So apparently back in 2009 this article appeared and showed off concept art for a 989 car combat game that never happened, simply known as DR.
Not sure if it would have become a Twisted Metal game, but considering the Yellow Jacket and Mr. Slam looking vehicles... it probably would have played a lot like TM.
Anyone know more about this?

I'm guessing these concepts were passed onto Incognito for the development of TMB. I might be wrong though.

like oil and water, 989 and vehicle combat don't mix.

As much as most of us hate 989, I personally wouldn't mind another car combat game from ANYBODY. HD remasters are probably more likely.

Yep. To be honest, they got car combat better than most. I still see 3 and 4 as better than stuff like Cel-Damage, WWE Crush Hour and even Roadkill.

A very functional design that throws physics to the wind. I'm assuming when firing a special, both Warthog and anyone in front of him instantly explode and launches their flaming wreckage to opposite ends of the map. A win-win in my book.

I enjoyed 3 and 4 so i would had loved this too.
Damn wish someone kickstarted a car combat game inspired by TM 1 or 2. TM 2 gameplay with current gen graphics is a dream of mine.
