Getting stuff graded is just a way to legitimize ripping someone off.

Those are straight crack prices.

I get supply vs demand, but the demand is not there, even for the miniscule supply. I could print out and staple together the PDF of this if I was THAT into a physical copy.

Neat find. They're way out to lunch with that asking price (for archival purposes, starting bid is US $4,229.99), especially considering that scans of the comic are easily accessible on the internet as it stands. It's still cool to see physical copies floating around though.

According to comicbookrealm.com the comic is valued at about $500 for a similar condition copy of the one on auction. As of April 2017, it was worth $400. Not sure if the $500 is an actual input value or some sort of pricing algorithm they use. Can’t find much on the last time it was sold.

The asking price may be out of range, but 4-figures isn’t completely insane. For a physical collector looking for official merchandise, this would be up there in terms of value. It ticks all the boxes.

- A couple of decades old
- Very limited print run
- Popular subject matter
- Difficult original method of acquisition

I don’t know much about comics per se, but these criteria apply to just about anything collectible. For example, the Elemental Gearbolt Assassin’s Case was limited to 50 copies and given away at E3. It was worth about 2.5k (+/- $500 or so) when it last sold in 2014.

I’d be willing to bet that several of those TM2 comics have been mangled throughout the years making the number even lower than 100 too.

Oh, and fuck graded shit.

I always wondered why it was DC Comics that published that comic.
