Brian Taylor (movie director) was interviewed recently and asked about the Twisted Metal movie that never happened.

“It became like a ‘tweener. Sony came out with a new version of the game, didn’t really sell that well. So they had this property that was kind of like this ‘tweener. It was a movie that felt like it needed to be $50 million, but they didn’t feel that the fanbase really merited that kind of movie; it really wanted to be more of a $15 million movie, but the nature of it with the set pieces would’ve just made it too big.”

"By the way," he said, "I wanted Nic Cage to be Sweet Tooth..."

Sony Pictures is already pretty broke after that whole Ghostbusters thing so I'm not surprised they didn't want to spend much money on TM like the director of Crank wanted. but Nicolas Cage isn't a bad choice for ST. thinking about it amuses me.

I was waiting for someone to post a thread about the movie. Granted, it's not like anything substantial we didn't really already know was revealed in that interview. It was probably the right call for the movie to be ditched at the time, but it's cool that the script is still intact and has just been shelved for the time being.
