Title: Should Drawn to Death be cancelled?
Post by MoshfieldAsylum on 06/30/16 at 02:06:40
It's probably too late for Sony to do so but should the successor to Twisted Metal 2012, Drawn to Death, be cancelled based off what you know of it?

It doesn't look like it will be successful, nor will it even be a better game than the poorly received TM 2012. It has zero hype around it and their marketing campaign consists of being jerks (from the #gofuckyourself hashtag over Polygon article criticism, to lashing out at the TMA forum on the DTD forum for no real good reason.)

Is it time for the co-creator of Twisted Metal to retire?

From what I've played of it, I like it for the most part. Also, remember, the game is still in closed Beta state right now, and it doesn't really matter what we think: Jaffe is dedicated to this game, and he wants to try something new. And for what he's doing, I think it has potential. We just have to give him time to do what he wants. The game could become a surprise success once it goes public. Just give it time to grow!

On another note, I find it funny that the game's multiplayer matches actually use TMX's soundtrack for the music. Jaffe also said that Tooth and Kratos can be found in cameo form in the environment somewhere (I've yet to find them though). Someone also asked him if he would add Twisted characters, and he said he might later on once the game has established itself. He also told me personally that he would be interested in a solo Sweet Tooth game later. ;)

I guess were going to find out soon how talented Jaffe's group really is.

I wouldn't want to see any teams hard work cancelled.

I do have to say though that Jaffe has a way of attracting bad publicity.

Used games, blow jobs, That Picture?

I think his views sometimes alienate the very audience he's trying to attract. He makes for great entertainment though and it is funny how he always spends several days after another 10 second gaffe attempting to backtrack or defend what he just said.

The game has been in private access for too long. The longer they keep it in beta, the less likely it is for an average gamer to stick with it until the public release, or want to pick it back up again if they've already shelved it. They've had a playable build since PSE 2014, yet I believe there's still no projected release date.

While I appreciate how much time they've spent tweaking the game, they really need to progress towards the public release. The game needs to get marketing and media coverage behind it, since the devs and the small community of hardcore players have very limited social reach. The longer they wait, the more the novelty of the new IP wears off, especially since it hasn't made headlines for a long time.

It was just announced that limited access will end very soon and that it may be released in August. Wether it will fail or not will see.

Btw most don't you play this game. At least think it's you...

So the Limited Access is ending and lo and behold, no release date! And it sounds like the game is going to radically change too - for the better, I'd hope, but maybe not, because it's been a real stinker so far, and all you Jaffe apologists can say what you want, but I don't have to make anything up. Bartlet Jones haven't been making the progress they had expected to make at this point, and their future is not looking bright. If the project is not profitable and it doesn't attract players, it's a fail.

And I'm a top DTD player.
I don't even need someone else's help to win.
