Title: Check Out Kotaku!!!
Post by Malefactor on 02/02/16 at 20:07:03
It looks like the rebooted server is getting some attention in the press.  It's also getting some idiot comments who played the game for five days and think they know what Twisted Metal's gameplay is.

Either way, give it a read!

I woke up and saw this on facebook, a friend tagged me in it otherwise I wouldn't have known. I also commented on the post! This is just really fucking awesome.  :)

We're all very proud. I know Roads, Kilrahi and Aced will agree when I say we did this for the love of Twisted Metal.

I'm also pleased that the article has a few links to TMA. I know TMA isn't exactly what it used to be, but I feel it's important that everything always points back here, since this is where the true TM fans reside.

As for the server, randoms do log into it at all times of the day, but I wouldn't say it's active enough to randomly login and hop into a game (we're getting there though). Organizing games via TMA is still the best option at the moment.

Edit: Hmm, well, Kemmler and Scream randomly logged in and are now playing. 9:20AM (UTC -07:00)

This is really great to see. Let this small amount of publicity be a form of recognition of those who have made the emulation possible.

Yep, and that's what counts, that TMA is a place for true TM fans, and has been for something like 17 years now.

Hi guys,  sorry I have not been here for some time and no I'm not dead yet.

I wanted to share a thought I've had since TMPS3.

I will give Sony until E3 2017 to give us a 'Twisted Metal Commitment' , if they don't my expectations from Sony's future Twisted Metal plans will be zero.

If that happens I will declare Twisted Metal Black Online as the ONLY Twisted Metal game worth getting into and really dive into it with multiple systems and more players.

That's quite the wait there Thumpy. I personally have given up hope on a new TM, let alone a TM that's of the caliber of TM2 or TMB. Plus... what if the next TM is made by David Jaffe?

I think at this point some of the TM vets from this site should make the next TM or start a Kickstarter... If anyone knows TM... that would be the old timers on this site. Finding the talent (programmers) would be our biggest obstacle though.

Right now though, I'm just thankful TMBO is free to play (no PSN/PS+ Requirement) and that it's fairly cheap to pick up a PS2 and all the required equipment.

When your as old as I am its not really a long time.

I do agree that finding the talent is the biggest obstacle, even for Sony its the biggest obstacle for them as well.

The goal would be to create something that gets Sony's attention, its all about the money, it would take a lot of time but its possible.

yeah this Kotaku post is how I found you guys :).  hit up ebay, bought a beaten-up copy, and just tested it last night on a PS2 slim with an 50' ethernet cable, wired keyboard, and component cable to a 42" TV.  played fantastic.

now I guess it's time to put in some controller time. I guess I'll keep this forum word-of-mouth for now.  just enough attention for hobbyists, but not too much attention, right? :)

Would it be inappropriate to shill the new Twisted Metal 2 PC online Skype group here? It's awesome to potentially have more players for Twisted Metal Black: Online, I'll be back with you guys eventually on that, I just need to get a good capture card for videos and playing it connected to my PC.

I don't mind that. Personally I am not going attempt to play TM2 PC but it wouldn't hurt trying to get people into it I suppose. Have you been playing it a lot recently with the Russian mates?

Oh yeah, fun as hell, we even voice chat and exchange broken English amongst each other. Lot of funny shit goes on. It's so worth it.

Reminds me how I played Crimson skies pc with 50 year old Brits and Aussies.

If I can get kali to fall inline I might join you for some PC action.

Do it in a virtual machine, I already have one set-up with Kali and TinyXP and the customized version of TM2 PC we use. Add me on Skype, and I'll talk to you about it.

I actually played it on win 7 without a virtual machine years ago with DOOM on here.

Sorry for the late reply. Being an adult and all that.
