Title: Preferred Vehicle
Post by GeneralChaz9 on 07/30/13 at 09:25:15
Who do you generally use for multiplayer?

I used to use Axel a lot when the game first came out, because I got him as a pre order bonus and he was one of my favorite vehicles to use since TM2, other than Spectre.  After using Axel quite a bit, I started using Roadboat a lot.  He was a little sluggish for my liking, but he packed a lot of power.  Before my PS3 stopped reading discs, I would use Crimson Fury, and surprisingly I didn't do TOO bad, but I had WAY more assists than kills.

What about you guys?

I first started using RoadBoat a lot when it first came out. Pretty much fell in love with him when I killed an enemy in less than 10 seconds of myself spawning with both of us at full health... At least for that moment  ::) other than him, though, I like to use Axel as well. Always nice to be able to jump over your confused contenders haha

Probably either Roadboat or Roadkill. Roadkill handles perfectly, but his special is just blegh and his armor is a tad too low for my taste. I'm trying to learn Death Warrant to replace Roadkill, but it just isn't working out. His special is just as bad as Roadkill's, only it is weaker.

First vehicle I used was Death Warrant, because when I first got my PS3 there was no Internet Connection so I couldn't download Axel, but once I downloaded I played with him only for quite a while, but then i switched to Roadkill and had some pretty amazing moments with it, so I mained Roadkill now, it's just sad how low the armor of RK is, and it's pretty much annoying how it consumes turbo real fast but still won't go that fast.

No matter what, Roadkill is my babe.

I would use Roadkill a lot more, but how the hell do you use the zoomy rockets?  Do you let go of R2 when the bar is full, and then quickly hold it again?  Because that never works for me.  lmao

You let go of R2 when the bar is in the red zone. Do it once, and you get regular rockets, do it twice and you get Blood Missiles.

So first fill up is chain gun, second fill up is zoomy rockets, and third time is blood missiles?  I did not know this...

I apologize for replying so late, have you watched Twisted Metal University vids?

There you go

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSYBwEcgG4Q

Roadkill part starts at around 2:29
and just a tip I got from SirCrush, when the meter is red at level 3, wait until the very final second before backfiring, then release it, that would be level 4 with more missiles and damage that can reach up to 120.
It'll take a lot of training to reach the point of pulling all 120 easily, I'm still training on that.

Hope I helped (:

Damn, I almost forgot about those TMU videos! In my days of being a young, spry TMX player, these videos were very informative. I mean, I would've never known how Death Warrant works without seeing the tutorial on Roadkill's fucking awesome special. I realize now that learning the steep curve of TMX made me so excited when I got my first killstreak that I'm semi positive that I made a noise similar to that of a geese being punched in the tummy.

TMU, huh?  I just figured that playing TM all my life I'd already know how to control every vehicle, but I suppose not.  I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks...

I personally use Meatwagon. I like his speed, handling and overall good speical. The first time I used him on Online, I got a 8 kill streak on nuke mode

So, Roadboat
     Roadboat
     Roadboat
     Roadkill
     Meatwagon

Nice.

Originally I used Roadkill. Beautiful vehicle. I either painted him grayish rust like he usually was or all black. Sadly, I gave up on Roadkill because he's just too weak. Even with the buff. All it did for me was let me drive around with a sliver of health instead respawing. Which saved some lives...unfortunately that doesn't matter though. So now I use Death Warrant. He's fun but I've resorted to basically not having a special. Unless I run out of weapons. I almost always have specials at least.

I still might switch mid game to score some good damage, then switch back when everyone thinks I'm using one of the weakest vehicles and fool them.

I've been playing a bit of online recently, and I am starting to favor Crimson Fury and Kamikaze.  I like the focus of hit and run, and with their speeds, it's nice to go around the map and pick up powerful missiles, and then drive through the map and unload.  It's really nice, and when I start struggling then I switch to Vermin.

Sorry if I upset anyone by pointing out that people are using mostly large vehicles. I shouldn't rag on anyone's ride. I apologize, but that guy got a 8 killstreak with Meatwagon first time playing online! C'MON there's something wrong with that. Also, you know there's something wrong when the same issue keeps coming up, and not just by me. Whatever, I still play the game. No hard feelings.

I am pretty sure people use the larger vehicles for the power.  Personally, I like speed, because it's much easier to escape a situation where you have low health or teamed up on.  Plus, if using a light vehicle, a ram from a larger vehicle is going to severely damage your vehicle.  Besides, most of the large vehicles have really decent specials, such as Junkyard Dog's Taxi, Vermin's rocket, and Darkside's turbo+Special.  I agree, it is annoying when all people use are the stronger vehicles.  Makes the game a bit off balanced.

Meatwagon is so damn good he's almost OP.  I remember going 20-0 or 25-1 with that guy.  The special is just too damn much.

Roadkill is boss! What planet are you playing on? Absolutely one of the best cars online, bar none. Let the noobs pick Meat Wagon and fire off 40dmg gurneys (aka training wheels), meanwhile I'm pounding them hard with 80+ dmg specials, can break out of freezes fast, and drive a hell of a lot faster than that stupid noob wagon. Also make sure you have the right radar size setting so it'll show gurneys as a skull and not a dot. Not knowing a dot is a gurney is gah-bidge.

It does suck RK has low armor, but that is part of his balancing for having that extra speed/handling and a very strong special. You just have to play smart and time your shields correctly based on what is about to hit you on the radar, keep getting kills to refill your AA/turbo, and you're good to go. Like most low armor cars his achilles heel is probably remotes, but that is a game engine bug/flaw that is easily exploited.

Death Warrant is not far behind Roadkill, his special can do up to 61dmg every 20 seconds, he just can't break out of freezes fast but he has more health and nice speed/handling. Jack-of-all-trades car, makes sense he is one of the default unlocked car. His special may seem weak, but right when you're out of weapons, it has regen again and you're saved!

EDIT: Further proof RK is boss, I just signed on to TM now and my skill is up to 99.79%. That was just from using RK last night in about 10 TDM games (after a 2-3 week break), mostly MVP and lots of killstreaks. Like riding a bike!

I would have to agree here.  RK has a load of benefits, and even his health isn't as bad as everyone is saying.   With his speed and handling, being able to dodge rams and missiles from a reasonable distance is pretty simple.  Honestly, I prefer Death Warrant over RK, mainly because DW feels like a heavier car, obviously takes more to put a dent in him, and his special causes almost the same damage as RK, but no need to fill up the bar again.  I may be wrong, but I think DW's ram is more powerful than RK's as well, and that's a huge thing for me.

dw and rk have the same ram damage. i prefer dw but i do acknowledge that rk is the better car

RK's special does alot more damage than DW's. I believe with the stage 4 (ill explain) he does a max of 124 or close. DW with stage 4 tops out at i believe 76. So big difference. Plus RK has better range with his special.

Stage 4 for either RK or DW is just like 70 damage swarmers. instead of letting go when the final bar is full you continue to hold until the charge bar blinks then let go. RK goes from 96 to 124. if takes practice cuz you only got a split second and if you're late you waste the special.

Although Roadkill is generally better than Death Warrant in most situations, I wouldn't go as far to say that always is; it really depends on the context of the match. On certain maps Roadkill's amped-up special is more useful, and for others Death Warrant's better handling, weight, and durability wins out (especially on cramped maps like Skid or Gulch). For some, it comes down to personal preference. I've logged hundreds of hours as Death Warrant, as opposed to just a couple dozen in Roadkill, and I simply feel more comfortable in Death Warrant (as well as other vehicles that I've clocked substantial time in). Had I adopted Roadkill back in the early months, maybe I'd be a better player today However, that's in the past, and I've always enjoyed playing a vehicle that people considered to be underpowered anyways (prior to the health buff, that is).

Realistically, it's possible to beast in any vehicle if the circumstances are just right. A few days back I pulled off two back-to-back games in Sweet Tooth totaling 41-0 without transforming, regardless that I've spent less than four hours with the vehicle in ranked lobbies. It may sound impressive, but the fact was that the lobby was comprised totally of noobs (well, I think Mosh was there too, but I don't think he was trying anyways). It doesn't mean that Sweet Tooth is poverpowered by any means (especially without transforming), and stats rarely ever give a full picture of a game.

Roadkill has always seemed a lot more situational to me, depending on map and game mode. I think he tends to shine best in team games with a larger number of opponents because he can do some serious damage from afar. However, in smaller maps he can be at a disadvantage and can be hard to use in 1-on-1 battles, especially against veteran players who don't leave themselves out in the open for very long. Plus, he feels a bit sluggish compared to DW; he just doesn't seem to have that same quickness.

Like MM, I've logged more hours with DW and feel more comfortable with him. The other thing I've noticed is that I am much more disciplined with DW than I am with RK. After a spawn, I feel like jumping right into battle with RK because of his special, sometimes leaving me vulnerable after I've used it and am only left with a couple weapons. But with DW, I always go to collect weapons before engaging in battle, leaving me much more prepared and with more options.

I used Axel the most he has been my favorite ever since I was little. I also used Kamakaze a lot as a replacement to spectre. I also used sweet tooth, shadow and death warrent but out of all those I was really only good with Axel, Kamakaze and Death Warrent.
