FYI, tons of voice work done by Incog members im sure (LOL @ Preacher and Yellow Jacket Especially). Also Demon voice during Preacher's intro. And yes there is baby drowning!

RK, Brimstone, and Black (i dont get his ending) have some minor changes to the story. Dollface and Outlaw big time.

Nicely done. Your work deserves way more attention.

I wish they kept in all the dialogue and images for sweet tooth's ending. Outlaws ending makes a bit more sense, and I like Axel's ending having his son killed instead of his wife. I also like Dollface's ending too, adds more detail. And finally, the famous baby drowning Jaffe talked about in the documentary.

Those were certainly interesting to see.  I'd heard about some of those differences forever but of course, never seen them.

Ultimately I think the final versions are far more artistic, and in many ways, moving because they are more subtle about getting the point accross at times when it counts.

Though Dollface's story is far more disturbing.  I'd always heard about this rumoured version . . .

Yeah, they should have kept the first Dollface version, def more revealing. The euphemism for her father being Mr.Creil was a clever touch though. It represented the indifference she had towards him ultimately because he killed his wife. The fact that he was so angry to face the truth when she'd remind him of his deed is also ingenious; it is a deep step into psychology without being platitudinal or amateur. He put the mask on her to shut her up so as to keep his secret. TMB's story is groundbreaking in the gaming world in my eyes.

I had trouble hearing the audio properly when I first watched the vids.
I've re-watched them and have to say Darkside's ending is fantastic.

This girl is an amazingly talented voice actress.

It's also interesting to note that DF is one of the only characters who is voiced by their final voice actor.

It seems many of the others are either temp (as in done by the devs as placeholder) or just a first run as they have very little emotion and feel like a first run from the script.

Also check out the car in Shadow's ending and compare it against the final build. Anyone want to offer any thoughts?? ;)

I have a couple but want to see others.

It looks almost like Spectre's old vehicle from TM2, but with stripes on the sides instead. Haven't gotten a clear shot as to what the license plate says, though.

Loving the new (old lol?) dialogue for ST's story but for me Dollface takes the cake as the best alt ending.

With Preach at a close second.

Any old TMB footage of original PED variety and PED kills and other gameplay stuff cut? I have seen the PED stuff before but very little. was hoping it would come back somehow.

To give you guys an Idea, basically PED kills were more gruesome, kinda like they die in TMX with the blood all over the screen. And there were more varieties of PEDs to kill.

There may be some vids on the way...

I've just bought a ps2 test unit so I'll find out if the proto has that stuff.
Its about from about 2 months before final release so it might be possible?

I am hoping but not optimistic. I remember those being cut a while before its release. It was a Sony decision not ESRB, so we may get lucky but I doubt it. Tell me otherwise pls lol

Darkforce already told me that those are present.

At least, I think that's what he said.  It wasn't something I was TOO interested in so I didn't push him to post them.

Damn, I would love to see the PED stuff!

Title: Re: Twisted Metal: Black - Prototype/Review Videos

The PED stuff is in there. The PEDs are bloody when you smash into them, and there is even an option to turn all of that stuff up to MAX via the "TWEAKS" menu.

The PEDs that seemed different to me are: Old guy with cain, a woman PED and I believe I saw a dog one, but I don't know if that's new or not.

Other interesting notes are: Boss Minion has more health and Warhawk is even more aggressive with his giant Rico BS.
I'd like to see if there are changes to the Junkyard 2 level and other levels, but this will take some time. The game does not have a functioning save game feature, so I've gotta create some hacks to unlock levels and vehicles.

I'll hopefully have a video up today/tonight of the game in action.

Here is a taste of some in-game footage from the TMB Review game.
You should notice some changes right off the bat. I believe the music is a little different for some levels and I'm pretty sure you'll notice the difference with the Tooth mans special. There are more differences, but I'll let you guys spot them.

I went around and found all of the PEDs I remember, but I couldn't find the one of the dog. I guess I could of been seeing things... possibly a graphical glitch of some sort.

Couldnt resist.

Differences:

ST cone special shoots... like 29 missiles? Normal TMB = 20, TMBO = 10. And they fired from only one arm of ST.

Level select pictures are different, some better.

Some sound of ST laughing plays when level loading... and game intro looks different (incognito). Font slightly different.

Enviro attack in burbs seemed to reach REALLY high

New peds. Old lady, old man, lady in dress.

Sweet tooth, it says he's 39 but in the final game it says his age is unknown. I wonder why they changed that.

*EDIT: Warthog has his original name, White Knight.

I wish they had kept all the ped models in the final game. The old man w/ cane made my day lol I was cracking up at Sweet Tooth running him over. The dark humor definitely exudes with those different peds & makes all the difference in how it contributes to the vibe of the game. I like the hospital much more with those patients rolling themselves around in wheelchairs; the sick humor should never have been so wasted by not including them in the end.

It's certainly cool to see after all of these years, but from an artistic standpoint I have to totally disagree.  If they had kept too many of those examples in the game suddenly causes you to focus more on the environment rather than the other cars, making the Black world feel more like a real place rather than the dream like place it feels like.

So no, no way.  I realize you like blood and guts and so, for you, just throwing that in is ALWAYS better but I like it how it was.

Edit:  Likewise, it's also better they left out Sweet Tooth's age.  Just like the Joker from "The Dark Knight," when things become unknown it feels creepier.  Your brain keeps wondering and trying to fill in the blanks.

I think i recall seeing in the ST story vids, one of the newspapers said the year was 2023. So this is like the most futuristic TM game too.

Maybe Warhawk is playable in this build??

A PS2 Critical Depth would have rocked.

Perhaps it could be simulated with TMBO in Downtown with the right gameshark code thanks to all this data about the internal mechanisms.

Warhawk (Black Razor) seems to have quite a bit more of his "code" left over in this game, but his vehicle still doesn't function like the other vehicles do. His vehicle is stuck in one spot for the levels he does load into, and you can't seem to cycle through the weapons bay. I guess they just hadn't progressed that far with him and or he was pretty much junked at this point.

Edit: There are a few things to try in the future, but I don't have high hopes for getting him working.
Edit #2: NVM, here ya go.

Well Axel is my fav yes...

But Tanker truck has like 20-30 health points or something ultra low making him the ultimate skill car/bottom feeder! He would enter Calypso's tournament and ask for a better car as his prize.

I think so!

I suspect they will be making more videos in the coming days/week.

And even less than Grimm's armor! Maybe a quarter of it at most.

Nice find on the beta videos there; wonder why they didn't keep Dollface as she was, it made a lot more sense.

Also on an unrelated note, does SCenter from TM: HC look alot like Seattle?

I'm seriously shocked more people aren't commenting on this!  The last few posts by Evil were crazy awesome.

It kind of . . . well it kind of now makes me wonder why they cut it.  It appears to work.  Now, Talon sucks ass so don't misread me here, I don't think Warhawk should have been left in regular multiplayer, but I can see some fun single player setups that would have been cool.

They always made it sound like they ran out of time or couldn't make it work but . . . hell they seemed close . . .

Yes it clearly is modelled after Seattle.  Whether or not that would have remained true to the final build is hard to say.

Sure looks like it would have been fun.

Just the names of those maps resonate this feeling of curiosity & enthrallment for me. I can only guess how the story would have ruled out in TMHC. The Goth map is quite eerie & it's immensely unfinished.

Would they have made the movie segments for HC the same way they did for black or were they transitioning to the cell shading design? I know there's more stuff we haven't seen related to that clip of HC in The Dark Past.

Didn't realize this until now, but its clear that they were trying to add in the long sot after mall that they could never put in due to texture repetition.

Well, yeah, I definitely saw that stuff, but it wasn't something that took me out of the experience. I just feel like between this footage and other more polished screenshots that have come out that there has to have been some other issue that stopped this game from getting made. Even if they wanted to make a downsized PSP game instead why didn't they just give us all this content when Extra Twisted as released? I really don't get it.

Budgets. I imagine the actual budget a game like Twisted Metal compared to Uncharted or God of War is tiny.

So i imagine Sony considered all the work an easy thing to write off as a loss. Since it cost far less money to produce then say the Titan that never made it into God of War.

Then again there are things like Race to Vegas in TMX where i think "How the hell didn't that get finished? It looked like all it needed was a few announcer voice clips and a little balance adjustment.

Sony doesn't care about black people..I mean, the Twisted Metal franchise. Seriously, it's so low on the totem pole for them I feel. I thought Twisted was going to finally see some love after the E3 announcement but they pretty much dropped the ball..again.

This is the credits FMV from the beta version of Twisted Metal: Black. It's completely different than the final game's equivalent FMV.

Differences:
-Uses a close-up background image of Sweet Tooth's eye (same as the final game's "LOAD GAME" screen)
-Uses placeholder text
-Lacks audio
-Running length is very short

Thanks:
