Title: Metal Impact - MMO Game Development Invite
Post by Heartbreak on 02/05/12 at 00:14:27
Okay, so...

I see this is a website that enjoys Twisted Metal and so, I thought I would just post something that might interest the 3D modelers, texture artist, and programers of this website. I'm Heartbreak and I am a 3D modeler + texture artists and I have been working on many video games with some gaming companies for quite awhile. Well, I been having an ideal to create a game which would be similar to Twisted Metal but as an MMO. A free to play and free roam video game you can play online with many other people which only would charge players for certain small things (like special cars and upgrades or whatever).

I been working in 3D modeling for over 5 years now and been creating many models on different assets. However, one thing I am interested in is using the Unity3D engine to create a game similar to Twisted Metal or called "Metal Impact". I'm willing to create all the models for the game, including cars, structures, props, weapons, whatever. However, I do need people to help me with the project though. I personally need texture artist and programers that know how to code in the Unity3D engine.

Here are some models I have created which  I am sure you will like, they can be used for the game once they are textured in some way (by me or someone else):

Super Thumper (Based on the Twisted Metal 4 version)

Dark Tooth (Based on Twisted Metal: Head-On)

Twister (Based on Twisted Metal: Head-On)

Sweet Tooth (Kind of based on Twisted Metal III)

If you are interested to push this project forward, please let me know via a PM on this site or just contact me directly via email:
tduworld@yahoo.com

P.S.
Without support, I can't really do this on my own due to other things I am doing.

I don't think you should be using someone else's intellectual property. Creating a game "like" Twisted Metal using the same car designs is blatant theft.

I'm not much on legal-eze but yea....that's pretty close to skirting copyright.

I'm not to sure Sony would like that much. I'm not gonna bash you or anything, and I can appriciate your desire for TM but, that's a little over the line.

Making pics for wallpapers or thumbs and stuff is one thing, but making a full fledged alternate game with very close designs is questionable.

And using a few TM4/3 stuff isn't to good either. LOL!!!!!

Sorry

You're doing a great job modelling them though. They look awesome.

If your not making money off of it it's legal right? Plus you don't have to directly call them by there original names. I'm no lawyer though and I would fuck with Sony. Plus if I'm correct I think jaffe wanted to sue some game that was called Scrap Metal or something.

Hi people,
The top models are not for the game, they are just to show what I am capable of doing. Of course the models can't look identical to the Twisted Metal series, I'm just showing you how I can model a somewhat 3D concept art as in, if it was given to me in real time (like these which they are base done, think of them as something that was drawn and given to me to model in 3D). Also, cars like these you see here can be placed aside and a fully free car combat game just like Twisted Metal with every single character ever created can be made.

However, this game will feature original cars and character, maybe even a feature to build your own car, who knows. I just need support from texture artist and programers mostly.

Can't help you there. As far as I know, very few people, if any, even possess those skills here.

Actually i know how to do texture art. I'm an old hand at Quake 1 and Quake 2.

But it depends on the kind of textures you are looking for and the texture methods being used. I imagine for large models like that you'll need multiple textures and not one skin.

Send me a PM i'm interested. I know a programmer too... But he's mine and i'm not sharing.

Websites have countless members or just people going around looking for something interesting. You never know who will find something like this interesting.

Models should be textured like you see Super Thumper. The model as well can easily be extruded for creating parts where weapons would pop out like missiles, guns and so on. Or we can just have simple mounted weapons on the cars (like the Vigilante 8 series). Since the models are created as a mesh so far and not textured, and only Super Thumper is textured (by me), we can texture the models however we see fit for now.

Also, one diffuse at the size if 512x512 is also good enough. The Super Thumper is just 1 diffuse at the size of 512x512. Super Thumper was textured in a stylized clean way. But 1 texture map can be enough for the whole car. The wheels are a separate texture map of 512x512 as well. And of course, weapons will have their own texture map. I have many weapons already made and textured already, so this game is not really far from being made!

PM sent.

And to get others even more hyped, imagine these with guns (made just for fun by me):

Character Name: Speed
Car: BMW M3 GT-R E-46
Super Weapon: Boost Nova
Armor: 3
Speed: 9
Handling: 10

Character Name: A.R.E.
Car: Pontiac Fire Bird Trans Am
Super Weapon: Scanner Laser
Armor: 10
Speed: 10
Handling: 10

Character Name: Christine
Car: Plymouth Fury
Super Weapon: Shockwave
Armor: 10
Speed: 3
Handling: 4

(3D models made by me with 1 diffuse map at the size of 512x512)

Yea. The artwork is cool as shit though.

I'm no lawyer either but, even not making money off it doesn't mean you can use it.

I guess if it's mentioned it's completely seperate or whatever he might be fine. Just mentioning a little caution that's all.

I'm a girl...
And thanks, I'm glad you like my work!
:D

@All
And to the rest of you, it's really more of a car combat game then a Twisted Metal clone. I'm just saying that in the future, a somewhat clone can be made.

At least be a little originial with the cars.  Now you're ripping off Stephen King (Christine) and Knight Rider (KITT).

That is fine. They can re retextured and renamed. The design process requires many changes to be made. She might as well stick with what she knows.

I'm gonna try and lend a hand on some of the texturing and other stuff. Might as well since i'm already neck deep in pixels.

At least she is using legit 3D software and knows how to use it.

Aren't you picky...
Quite frankly, I am going to be making cars that practically don't exist and are done in paper or something similar. If you read my post you would understand that these models that look like Christine and KITT are based off them to show I can model concept art or images given to me. In little words, I am just showing my abilities in 3D modeling.

Here's some original cars like you want:

I used to do some modelling a few years ago.  I could only ever use lightwave though lol.

Why are you asking that, how ignorant are you? So you go do a job with people that don't even know what they are doing in their field of work they are in or something? It's obvious I am showing what I am capable of to show that things can be done.

Or is it better to just come on here and create a thread with nothing to show and start asking for people to help out with no one even knowing if I am capable of doing anything? I hope everyone in this website isn't as ignorant.

Nah. It's just about half of the people here are bias against PC gaming for some reason.

I guess since they can't make a 3D model it's unfathomable that someone else could. Much less a stupid girl.

Well, least that makes sence, like girls can't like cars and car combat games.

I think some are because they assume most PC gamers are elitist... and they'd be right. Most PC gamers I've met scolded me for playing PS3 and 360. And I tried to explain I can't afford modifications to it and my current PC is weak. Yet, they say a $20 motherboard can outperform a PS3 by sevenfold. But, I try to stay clear minded when talking. But, I see those cars... they look an awful lot like Lamborghinis. Such as the Countach, Diablo, and the Jotto.

They look like them, but are nothing like them. In life, just about everything is already invented. Try creating an OC (original character) right from your imagination and search on the web... You will always find a cartoon or anime that looks just like your character. And on my original car models, I think just the silver one looks something like a Lambo, the rest don't look anything like Lambos if you know your cars. Because any car that has a "pointy front end" isn't a Lambo.

One a side note, everyone knows a PC can out preform any console simply because of its wide range of customization.

Really?
That would be epic though, but I really don't know anyone on here. And I love your signature.

Also, I posted this thread on a game development website , I got some people to help!

It's based off a car very few people even know about... The Vector W8 Twin Turbo.
