Title: TMPS3 Vehicles *Please Read*
Post by Deathtracker on 12/20/10 at 03:53:54
I just wanted to know if there are any pictures of the proposed Spectre out there, and if anyone had a large picture of the supposed boss. I don't know if it's just me or if everyone has this tiny tiny graphic of the boss. Also, what are your thoughts on the TBA tank car? I'm just hoping it is a TM2 style Minion. If not, I can live with whatever they dish out. I also wanted to point out some balance issues: the advantage of flight, triangular reticles on screen, and the dpad specials.

Obviously being able to fly will add a huge window to escape from a firefight and quickly maneuver out of missile range, so I'm wondering how this will be counteracted. Will everyone just decide to pile their carnage on all of the flying vehicles in the map, or will people just find the flight to be too tedious due to the need to hover close to the ground and leave the flight to the pros altogether?

Will the interface have little red triangles like Black did, so you could find people through walls? That worked for Black because the game's environment was not totally destructible. According to what Jaffe and Campbell said, many and most of the PS3 game's walls will be collapsable. If these location markers are left unchecked, they could prove to be a nuisance. I mean, who likes a cross map behind the back ambush from some guy who used a totally uncool online interface item.

Also the dpad specials- in every single installment of TM, we have had to deal with stupid chains of dpad commands to achieve the desired effect. I think this ability to get an on-the-spot shield will be sadly overused and will result in TM3-4 noobage. Imagine: you are playing nuke and you find three people guarding the faction leader on the platform, and have a perfect six man ambush set to destroy the three opposing vehicles. You lunge for the attack and as soon as you fire your first homing, they activate their shields and completely obliterate your ambush.  >:( also the instant freezing, mine, ect. will be annoying and will affect gameplay.

Please, comment on what I have said and share any pics of said vehicles.

The Shield could have a bit of a delay added to it in order to take away the instant element to it. I like the one button pad special attacks I always found the combos annoying.

Well u could always shield pretty quickly.  Part of the strategy of TM is managing your inventory vs your opponents.  Proper timing of shields, freezes, and invisilbity is what can decide confrontations.  Part of the game.

Thanks for the feedback here, but what are your thoughts on the other two subjects? They might affect gameplay one way or the other.

In my mind, the ability to fly is offset by the need to come back to the ground to snag weapon pickups.  We've already seen that Talon has very low armor.  Yes you can fly away and that will be annoying and somethign to deal with, but it's not like players can just rain death from the sky indefinitely.  What goes up must come down eventually.

I think the pointers are still there.  They were introduced because the graphics sometimes move too quickly or are too details to point out things the player needs to see.  Ever played a RTS where the colors between the armies are too similar or nonexistant on certain units?  It's annoying.  I liked the indicators personally.  Made camping harder.

I guess there's a point there. The only thing I have a problem with is that it will end up totally eliminating one of the team elements.
