Don't forget that the "X" in Twisted Metal X may also just be a placeholder for an unknown number. Just like saying something like "it cost me $148.xx) If you follow chronologically though it would have to be 8 (9 if you count TM:HO ETE separate from reg. HO). I don't know though, obviously Twisted Metal X would sound 1000x better than Twisted Metal 9.

EDIT: My bad everyone.  It would be X standing for 10.  There are 9 TM games already. TM, TM2, TM3, TM4, TMB, TM:SB, TMB:O, TMHO, TMHO:ETE

It should be called Twisted Metal 3.  If Need for Speed can use "Hot Pursuit" and Mortal Kombat can use "Mortal Kombat" then fuck it, we need to reboot Twisted Metal and call it three right out of the gate.  Black, Small Brawl, and Head On all exist in a different universe, the only debatable one might be Head On but any PSP game can't be a true sequel.

Who remembers God of War Chains of Olympus?  Cause I don't.

Head-On was Twisted Metal 3. I don't see why you think it shouldn't be a sequel just because it wasn't on a home console. It wouldn't be the first time a franchise has done that. Shit, even Metroid did it twice.

Also you can't ignore the fact that almost every single character's story in TM2 was continued in Head-On.
